Coaches College Day 3
The first evening was the first part of Sport Safety Training. On the second day I completed my recertification for that and for CPR. The Red Cross has changed a lot of the procedures over this last year so much of the information was different.
The coach for saber one is Alex Beguinet. Today we started with basic footwork and how to cut with the saber. This was mostly review, but it was good to have someone critique how I did. I will definately work on my appele, and my forward jumps this week.
This afternoon we worked on how to move as a coach in saber. This involved a lot of drills that were quite simple for the student, but that really required the coach to establish a rhythm that is approapriate to the weapon. This was the most difficult thing that I did today. It still feels unnatural, but I am improving. this evening I will spend my time just trying to get more comfortable with this movement.
The facility here is great, and the dining hall is even better. It is a good feeling to wake up in the morning and see pikes peak looming over me when I go outside. I think I am over any of the altitude sickness problems I had when I first arrived.
