Coaches College Day 6
Yesterday was an exciting day, because I finally started to get the feeling for the arm movements. The rhythm is very different than epee, and the movements of the coach are even more so. Sunday, I was finally able to really work on the drills, and put together a simple, but coherent lesson that lasted about 5 minutes. I am going to give the same lesson this morning to try and smooth it out. I have been trying to work at least a little bit with each person here, so I will find someone that I have not worked with yet to try it out.
The schedule here is fairly intensive. Breakfast from 7-8, a morning session from 8-11:30, lunch from 11:30-1, afternoon session from 1-5:30, dinner from 5:30-7, evening seminar 7-9.
The seminars are on various topics related to coaching. We have had one on the rules of saber, and another on NCAA recruiting rules so far.
Overall, I am having a lot of fun. I do know I am going to have to practice the saber coaching movements and putting together lessons a lot before I really feel comfortable. I hope everyone has patience with me as I work out the bugs.
Today is a half day, so this afternoon I am going to find the library here and look throught the fencing collection and see if there are any there that I want to acquire in the near future.
