Advanced Epee Camp report

I went up to the Advanced Epee Camp at Northwest Fencing Center from Aug 6-11, and I have mixed reviews. On the one hand, it wasn't as high-level (top-to-bottom) as I was hoping; on the other hand, it probably fundamentally changed the way I fence from now on.

It wasn't as rigorous, physically, as I thought, but it did give me a lot to think about tactically.

The final event of the camp was a tournament on Sunday, Aug 12, the River Run Epee Open (. I only lost one bout in the pools, and then lost to the same guy in my second DE bout. He built a lead up to 9-4, but I tied it up at 9-9 just before time ran out, and we went to overtime. He won the coin toss for priority, but aggressively attacked me anyway - not allowing me to set up an attack in my own time. It was a crafty tactic from a veteran fencer, and he deserved the win.

I was hoping for a matchup with Carlos in the 8, though.
